A Surprise Gift

compfy cotton candleThis was shared on my Facebook last night, but felt it was too good, to not share here on my blog.

So for those who don’t know already.  Pier 1 Imports is going out of business.  I love the store but thankfully not as much as I love it’s competitor Cost Plus World Market. However Pier 1 carried one of our favorite candle scents Comfy Cotton.  We have this 3 wick candle shown to the right.  We bought a couple of them a while back during one of their 2 for $20 promos.

On July 17th I posted this photo on social media, saying how I will miss its wonderful scent when it burns out completely.  I even searched for more before the announcement of them going bankrupt to buy more, however it was already sold out.

Yesterday I waited until the sun started to set a little before going out to get our mail.  I get it, come back and see a box by our front door.  I pick it up and bring it inside.  We had made a few purchases recently but we were not expecting anything until Friday.

I tell Terry we got a package, but then before I open it I noticed it didn’t have a label on it.  We were a little suspect because remember right after 4th of July we had a firework thrown at our front door.  I was thinking what now?  We check our cameras because the only notification that we got a couple hours previous to this was what we thought was our amazon delivery that we were expecting.  Turns out Amazon didn’t ring our doorbell, it was the mysterious box person.  Somehow when we got the amazon box, we didn’t notice this box (probably because they were left in 2 different areas.  We watched the video a few times of this person coming up putting the box down and running away quickly to their car.  We were thinking it was a friend of ours, but because they were so fast we couldn’t confirm.  So I start looking at the box and see that there is a label under the box flap.  I was able to see a partial last name and was able to confirm who we suspected (it had been a while since we had seen her and she wasn’t notorious for just coming by our house).  So I open the box up, find a letter and read it out loud to Terry.  It had me tear up.
