Financial Advice and Youtube

Written by: Heather on

Financial Advice and YoutubeWe are gonna talk about Financial Advice on Youtube.

Ten years ago I would have never imagined that I would be somewhat of the “finance geek” that I am today and that I actually want to blog about it.  Before I didn’t think much about money, except for how I was going to make it so I can pay my bills and then what to spend it on.

Today is a completely different story, I try to keep up to date with the stock market and how it’s trending.  Keep up on our retirement and inquire about our different options.  However I can not take any credit for this, as it’s all my wife.  She loves numbers and finance.  Her passion began back in 1997 with buying stocks, investing in mutual funds and opening retirement accounts.  She has taught me well and she/we love sharing our knowledge with friends looking for advice.

We spend at least 2 hours a day getting our daily dose of finance.  Yes you can get some great financial advice about retirement, savings, investments, etc etc from Youtube.

We used to watch CNBC’s “The Suzi Orman Show.”  Unfortunately that show is now off the air, however she does have her podcast.

Finance Shows
A list of some of our favorite channels

Dave Ramsey is probably the most well known person on this list.  He offers great advice to viewers who call or email in to help them get out of debt.  How to grow their savings and invest in their future for retirement.  We agree with most of this thinking.  However we believe in the debt avalanche method to pay off debt instead of the debt snowball method that he promotes.  And obviously unlike him we use credit cards.  We often find ourselves answering the questions presented on this show before he gives his advice.

Graham Stephan is a much younger player in the game and tends to attract a younger audience.   While he too respects Ramsey enough to name his cat after him.  He believes in being responsible with credit cards, and believes in having a low interest mortgage over paying it off like Ramsey.

Two Cents we recently discovered this channel.  While we find ourselves already informed on most of the information provided.  It is a great channel to follow, especially for beginners. They discuss all aspects of finance with easy to follow videos with fun little animations.  It tends to offer information over advice.

Holy Schmidt! This is a great channel for us as we get closer to retirement.  It’s run by a CPA named Geoffrey Schmidt, The channel is for those thinking about (or in) retirement. Discussing Social Security, retirement savings, retirement net worth, and retirement lifestyle.
