We started to watch 90 Day Fiancé a few months back. I like to blame it on Covid-19 although it is totally not related. I had no interest in watching it before, but maybe because I thought it was more of a we are going to hook you up with a person and you will be engaged for 90 days type deal.
The show “Before the 90 Days” Season 4 is the first one we watched. It came on right after a movie I was watching, I got distracted with my phone so I never changed the channel. I believe it was Big ED and him living in San Diego that caught my attention. Soon after I was sucked right in. Thankfully it was Episode 1 and they showed the next 3 episodes right after. By the end of the day I had it set in the DVR.
There is so much I could say about this show. I could go on and on about Baby Girl Lisa. Or even with David and how naive he is. However, what I want to talk about here is these people that go to another country to visit and or move. Why are they not doing any research? If I watch the other seasons I am sure I could write about every couple. But since I haven’t yet and I don’t have all day I’m just going to limit myself to 2 people. Big Ed with Rosemarie in the Philippines, and Brittany with Yazan from Jordan, from Season 2 of “The Other Way”.
Big Ed, was so surprised to see how Rosemarie lived in the Philippines, and even said “It’s like a 3rd world country.” “That is because it is,” Terry and I both yelled out. We would be so good on the followup show “Pillow talk” we say almost everything they say and it makes us laugh. He was so shocked to see her home. Did he ever take a look her home behind her while they did video chat?
So we finished all of the season 4 of “Before the 90 Days” and we are currently watching the followup shows they have for it. I had somewhat of an interest in watching “The Other Way”, while Terry did not. However after catching up on watching “B90 Strikes Back” last night we caught a commercial of the latest episode of “The Other Way” where a woman (that we now know as Brittany) is loosing her mind in a car. So we decided to watch the episode before the current one and then the current episode. Brittany apparently didn’t read anything on Islam. She also doesn’t understand that women can’t act the same way there, that you can here in the US. That she as a woman does not have the same rights as a Man.
What do these couples talk about in the months and years before their actual meeting up?
Before I married my Moroccan husband (2nd marriage) and we were talking and dating, I read about Morocco and Islam. I wanted to know more about what I was getting my self into. More then what movies such as “Not Without my Daughter” show you, more then what the news shows you. And more importantly more then what he may or may not have wanted to share with me. Now my situation was a little different, in that he was already here living in the states but I still did research.
I often wonder if in these shows they tell them to over re-act. Not that I would ever want to, but I know that I would never be accepted onto a reality TV show. Simply because I just hate drama (but obviously I will watch it). I try not to get offended easily, and just tend to go with the flow of life.
The people in the show, really make American’s look bad. I mean we already look bad to the rest of the world as it is, but this just ads to it. We are way over privileged and it really is disgusting. But somehow I still continue to watch.
