With smart devices everywhere in our lives, making us lazy but also helping us save money. I wanted a way to make our pre-existing ceiling fans “smart” fans without replacing all the remotes/receivers. A few of our fans are too high for me personally to replace the receiver on them. I knew that in this day and age their had to be something out there that would work for me.
I was searching for a device with no luck, maybe it was my keywords I was using, but I am usually pretty good and finding the right keywords to use. Then one day I am on a Facebook group for Ring cameras. Someone had a picture of his different devices. I asked him about one that I didn’t recognize as I was curious. That shows you even more of the kind of geek I am, not to mention that here I am blogging again about gadgets.
It’s a device called “Bond.”
What does it do?
It can turn any remote controlled fan, fireplace or Somfy shades smart in seconds. Activate the fan, control fan speeds, and switch on lights—all from your iPhone, Android phone, tablet, Amazon Echo, or Google Home Assistant.
How does it work?
It records and transmits the RF (radio frequency) as well as IR (infrared) signals of your pre-existing remotes, so it will work regardless of what kind of remote you have. The area range is about 2,500 sq. ft. so you’ll be able to control fans in other rooms or on another floor.
How easy to install?
Set up is extremely quick and easy. Simply plug in the BOND device, download the app to your phone, point your fan remote at the BOND, and you’re basically done! All of the functions on your remote—including fan speed, light dimmer settings—can now be controlled with your smart phone or devices such as Alexa or Google Home
Updates are always coming up to control more devices.
