A key factor in managing your money is to be able to see the big picture. Where you stand on both the asset and debt side of your financial equation. A place to see all of your accounts in one place.
I have found a great tool in the app Personal Capital. It is an all in one tool to view your accounts as well as give investing analysis and investing tips.
You can link your accounts directly as most major platforms, banks, and brokerages are connected. You can even add manual accounts for any that aren’t.
Then you will start to see your net worth. Your debts and savings, investments and retirement all in one place.
It also helps you track your monthly spending and savings. Personal Capital has a feature that tracks your budget so you can compare month to month spending. It will analyze your portfolio performance and make suggestions for balancing. It will breakdown what fees you are paying as well as retirement progress. All for free.
In fact if you sign up using this link and add one of your investment accounts you’ll get $20. That’s always a nice perk (and full disclosure so will I)!
You do have the option of using one of their advisors for a fee. But this is not required and often not needed depending on your situation. I don’t recommend using the advisors unless you are an advanced investor. Just use the app for the free tools and financial dashboard.
All in all this is a great app to have for a quick check on where you stand and tips for what steps to take toward your goals.
